The great Pacific garbage patch is 79 Tons of accumulated garbage in the Pacific Ocean. According to National Geographic, micro plastics make up 94% of an estimated 1.8 trillion pieces of plastic in the patch. 46% of all the plastic in the patch is made up of plastic fishing nets and other types of fishing gear. Some of these Nets are the size of footbal fields, they continue to do their job of collecting things, like more plastic and trash, long after being disposed off.

This piece is entirely made from cut up plastic bags and packing tape linked together to reference all the fishing nets polluting our oceans and speeding up climate change. Overtime I will continue to add plastic bags I collect and have this new grow into something massive as the nets in the garbage patch. This piece is meant to highlight the worlds plastic pollution problem and how it will eventually trap all of us in its net someday if we do not choose to take action now!
